Every time I round a corner these days, I swear I see something like this. I know I should be savoring these days, as she’ll soon be asking for keys to the hovercraft, but SHEESH. Toddlerhood gives me agita.

Temporary warp in the space-time continuum

Okay, I am SO FAR BEHIND in adding new pictures it’s positively inexcusable, but by way of offering an excuse anyway, it has been extra-busy around here, what with finishing recent travel, hosting a few wonderful visitors, and then doing my postpartum doula training and starting to see clients, even! Normally I would start adding the pics in where I left off, which would be with our trip to Portland, then our visits from Grandma Fay and Kate & Neil, and THEN Halloween, but I know y’all are a-chomping at the bit to see the costume. So, this time I’ll work backwards and post some of the Halloween fun now, and then fill in the chronological gaps with Portland, etc. Hopefully we’ll be caught up by Thanksgiving, at least, and can then take it from there.

Without further ado, I present our Bumblebean:

The other beekeeper made an appearance at the party!

And then, Lily’s world was turned upside down.

She got to meet Cookie Monster, and let me tell you, the child was OBSESSED. I don’t think she had ever even seen him before – we’ve had Sesame Street on a few times, but she’s never fixated on it at all. We just might have to change that, though. I wish I had a good recording of the ecstatic laughter – she just thought he was the most hilarious thing she had ever seen in her whole life, and would not stop staring and laughing hysterically, yet still being a tiny bit shy, then shaking his hand again and again, then hugging him, then feeding him his giant cookie, and finally insisting on being picked up by him, and eventually just became a total stalker.

Seriously, this went on and on and on.

And if you thought that was good . . . we also have video.

I eventually HAD to take her away, much to her chagrin. The crazy thing? When the dad who dressed up got out of costume and came into a different room, where we had moved, she went right up to him and demanded to be picked up and would not stop hugging him. She totally knew! Do NOT ask me how. Crazy.

All tuckered out – I think I’ll just lie here on the party floor. (You know you’ve wanted to do the same at long parties yourself, admit it.)

Having a fine time in Portland – pics to come. Just wanted to share that her vocabulary has increased to include “–tty” for “kitty” (with the sign for kitty), “daww-dee” for “doggie”, and “iss” for kiss. She’s also very good at saying the daw-dee’s name, Boe, though it comes out more like “Boo”. And I could swear she said “Thanks!” tonight! We had already established “bye”, “hi”, and assorted mamamama & dadadadada sounds, so the verbal explosion seems to be starting!

It’s a rare treat to get to go to Utah when it’s not Christmastime (though it’s lovely in the winter, too). We had way too much fun. See it all here!

And there are no shots of it, but I also got to see my first movie in a theater since April 2008 (Harry Potter, of course). LUXURIOUS.

Much gratitude to the Kellys and associated clans for making another set of wonderful memories. Can’t wait until December!
